A Project Prayer
O God, from Living Stones you
prepare an everlasting place for
your Glory.
May we who serve you here be
so restored and renewed by the
power of your Holy Spirit that
we may make this Holy Place
safe for future generations
seeking your presence.
This we ask in the name of
Him who makes all things new,
Jesus Christ, our Lord,
AMEN |
Bournemouth Launch Date - Sunday 13th October 2002
The launch followed the Celebration Festival High Mass of our Dedication 121 years ago in 1881.
Our magnificent building and our wonderful organ are both in need of some major love and affection:
The wonderful Hill Organ is in urgent need of major refurbishment and thorough cleaning as a matter of extreme urgency.
The conclusions from the 2002 Quinquennial Inspection suggest that major replacement of all the window ferramenta and some stonework is to be replaced/repaired within the next 10 years.
The existing lighting fittings are obsolete and require replacing along with the electrical wiring over the same timespan. It is also anticipated that work may be required on the heating boilers etc. during the next 10 years.
- Other minor repairs and refurbishment works are also required.
- Access is also required to various parts of this Grade 1 Listed building in order to comply with modern legislation - including:
- Health & Safety
- Safe Access
- Disability Discrimination
To accept this enormous challenge, this appeal is launched to raise the resources to carry out this work - which is estimated to cost £597,000.
Please watch this space for further announcements as our plans are developed.
